CHEMICAL PEELS
Simply Radiant Aesthetics in Winnipeg, MB offers a variety of chemical peels to help you achieve your individual skincare goals.
Chemical peels are a safe and effective skincare treatment that can help you achieve a smoother, brighter, and more even complexion. This treatment involves applying a chemical solution to your skin that removes the top layer of dead skin cells, revealing fresher, healthier skin underneath.
Chemical peels are great for treating a variety of skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture. They can also help to reduce the appearance of sun damage and age spots!
HOW IT WORKS
Chemical peels work by applying a specially formulated solution to the skin, which contains a combination of exfoliating and rejuvenating ingredients. These ingredients work to remove dead skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
THE BENEFITS
- Improved skin texture and tone
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Brighter, more radiant skin
- Reduction of hyperpigmentation, including sun damage, age spots, and melasma.
- Treatment of acne and acne scars
- Improved overall skin health
PRE-TREATMENT
- Use of AlumierMD home care products prior to your peel may be recommended to prepare the skin. Please contact us to determine a skincare routine that is right for you.
- 2 WEEKS BEFORE: Avoid sun exposure (tans/burns/tanning beds/spray tans)
- 1 WEEK BEFORE: Discontinue any irritant type of topical products or treatment products such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula), scrubs, or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare.
- DAY OF: Remove all makeup prior to treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At your consultation, we will discuss what results you would like to see and determine if chemical peels are right for you and your skincare needs. At the treatment, your face will be cleansed before the chemical solution is brushed onto your skin.
The solution will be left on your skin for 5-20 minutes before removal. You may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation, but this is normal and should subside after a few minutes. Our chemical peels are paired with a facial treatment using premium medical-grade skincare products.
Due to the nature of your treatment, you should not necessarily expect to ‘peel’. However, you may have light to moderate flaking in a few localised areas for 3 to 7 days. You may also experience residual redness, which lasts in most patients from 1 to 12 hours.
POST-TREATMENT
Immediately After
- After your treatment you will receive a post procedure kit, these skin care products need to be used for 5 to 7 days post treatment in the following order.
- Your skin will feel tight and ‘pulled’. Although you may or may not actually ‘peel’, it is likely that you will experience light ‘exfoliation’. It may take 2 or more treatments to target the deeper layers of skin to loosen and ‘peel’.
- DO NOT apply makeup the day of the treatment. It is ideal to allow the skin to stabilise and rest overnight.
- DO NOT cleanse your skin in the evening of your peel or treatment or pick any flaking skin
- DO NOT apply ice or ice water on the treated area
2 DAYS POST-PEEL
- Do not use hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, and/or excessively hot showers
- Do not go swimming or participate in aerobic exercise
1 WEEK POST-PEEL
- Do not have electrolysis, waxing, threading or any other form of hair removal
- Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.
- Keep your skin hydrated. Hydration is key to proper healing.
2 WEEKS POST-PEEL
- DO NOT use facial scrubs, mechanical forms of exfoliation, retinoic acid, AHA or BHA for 14 days post peel
- DO NOT have laser hair removal, photo-facials, chemical peels or microdermabrasion for 14 days post peel.
